NTOMBIZANELE – An event for women by women: 9 August 2025


Introduction

Ntombizanele was a empowering gathering designed exclusively for women by women, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and generations to openly discuss issues impacting their lives. The event fostered unity, inspiration, and dialogue in a supportive environment, aligning with themes of women’s empowerment prevalent in South African community initiatives. 

Venue and Decoration

Hosted at a community venue Are-Ipeleng Primary School, the space was transformed beautifully by dedicated decorating team. Using available resources creatively, they beautified the venue, turning it into an inviting and colourful setting that reflected resourcefulness and community spirit. 

Programme Highlights

  • Ice-Breaker-Games: The day began with fun,  inclusive games that brought together young and old attendees. These activities effectively broke the ice, creating laughter, bonding, and a relaxed atmosphere for deeper conversations.
  • Guest discussions: Speakers shared valuable insights on various topics to women’s experiences:
    • Working in radio and media
    • the role and challenge of being a tutor.
    • Raising a girl child in the digital era, addressing modern parenting concerns like online safety and influence. 

These sessions sparked thoughtful exchanges and empowered attendees with practical knowledge. 

  • Special Contribution by Dr. Toto Tshona: Dr. Toto Tshona, a renowned educator and recent PhD graduate in Mathematics Education from North West University, briefly shared his inspiring personal journey related to NTAs. His story of overcoming challenges resonated deeply with the audience. 
  • Performances:
    • Mo-Rhaps delighted guests with performances of his unreleased tracks, adding energy and artistic fair.
    • Paballo captivated everyone with a heartfelt poem recitation, touching on themes close to the event’s focus. 

 

Conclusion and Photo Session

The event wrapped up on a high note, with guests seizing the opportunity to take group photos together – capturing joyful memories and new friendships formed throughout the day. 

Overall Success

Ntombizanele was a resounding success, fostering empowerment, dialogue, and community among women from all walks of life. A huge shout-out to the decorating team, speakers, performers, organizers, and everyone who contributed to making it possible. Events like this highlight the strength and resilience of women coming together “Against All Odds We Are Moving.”
